Discover how to visit the best lakes in South Tyrol with the best sustainable accessories
If you find yourself in South Tyrol during summer, the perfect escape from the heat of the city is a daytrip to the lake. There you’ll be able to swim in the cool water, to relax in the shade of a tree or to take pics for your Instagram feed. The question now is…which lake? Since there are so many beautiful options in South Tyrol, here we have picked 5 of our favourite lakes and some tips to visit them.
First of all, the Reschensee - Lago di Resia is close to the border with Austria and Switzerland. This lake is probably the most impressive one, as the bell tower of a 14-th century church emerges in the middle of the lake. Reschensee - Lago di Resia is also where the Netflix TV series Curon is set.
Then, the Pragser Wildsee - Lago di Braies is one of the most emblematic places of South Tyrol with its wooden boats and its pile dwelling. This lake is also where the Italian TV series Un Passo dal Cielo, starring Terence Hill, is set.
We have to add to our list the Karersee - Lago di Carezza as well. Thanks to the effects of sunlight on its emerald green water, this lake is also called “Rainbow Lake”.
Another lake worth seeing is the Antholzer See - Lago di Anterselva, which has a very wide range of flora and fauna species.
Last but not least, the Lago di Dobbiaco – Toblacher See. It is located about halfway along the cycle path between Dobbiaco and Cortina and is the ideal place to rest before continuing to cycle.
What all these lakes have in common is that they are easily accessible by public transport. South Tyrol is very well connected and you can consult timetables and routes here. In addition, the majority of them has a circular path suitable for families with children and there are several places where it is possible to eat delicious traditional dishes.
The perfect outfit for her for a day at the lake includes shorts and t-shirts from Another Brand. The shorts come in a beautiful raspberry shade and are at the same time comfy and fashionable. These should be matched with the trendy yet functional cotton t-shirts in pastel colours, ideal for summer.
Our must-haves for him are the Supernatural’s shorts made of merino wool, which makes them thermoregulating, to be matched with a Re-Bello’s t-shirt in organic cotton.
Accessories: The perfect companions for a daytrip at the lake are the Revo sunglasses, whose lenses harness a NASA-based technology. With your eyes protected from exposure to harmful rays you can experience the wonderful colours that nature has to offer. If you want to sunbathe on the grass, there's nothing better than the Nikin towel, which is also available in family size. Finally, to carry everything you need you can use Ecoalf's Pandora bag, which is very capacious and completely vegan.
Enjoy your day at the lake!
